- Location: Chips that are located more than 7 cm from the edge of the screen, can be repaired. If the chip is located in the line of vision, then it is not larger than 10mm across its diameter for it be repairable.
- Damage: If the windscreen is chipped, it can be repaired, provided chip meets the criteria for size and position. If the glass is cracked, it cannot be repaired. If the crack looks minor also, it is better to replace the screen as it undermines the strength of the windscreen as a whole. A weak or damaged windscreen can be completely damaged or detached if the air bag is deployed. This would lead the air bag to inflate above the dash board, and so cannot provide vital protection to the passenger or the driver.
